Removing Super Glue from Clothes Acetone will remove Super Glue - TopicsExpress

Removing Super Glue from Clothes Acetone will remove Super Glue from fabric, but it may discolor the material or alter its texture. Work acetone into the affected area from both sides. You can use a gloved finger or a soft-bristled toothbrush. The acetone will dissolve the glue and be rinsed away by still more acetone. Acetone evaporates quickly, but youll still want to wash any fabrics that can withstand cleaning. Flush the clothing with cold water first. Rub at the stain to remove as much of the glue as possible just by rubbing. Naturally, use your common sense with respect to very delicate fabrics––rubbing or scrubbing may damage the fiber Dont use acetone on natural fabrics. Dampen a cloth, clean old toothbrush or cotton swab with acetone and rub the glue stain to try and lift it up. Scrape the glue off with a blunt knife or spatula, then wash the clothing as usual. (You can also pre-treat the stain if youd normally do that before washing.) Do not use acetone on clothing that contains acetate or acetate variations––the clothing will melt. Always trial a test spot before using on any clothing. Note that acetone can dull the color behind the glue stain.
