Craigslist... its not just for selling stuff, bartering, or murder. Cymbals Eat Guitars used Craigslist to form a band. Two of the members, Joseph DAgostino and Matthew Miller, were friends in high school and formed the band in 2007. They decided to place an ad on Craigslist that brought in Neil Berenholz, Daniel Baer, and Matthew Cohen. By 2009 their debut album, Why There Are Mountains, was making waves and got them listed on Pitchforks Best New Music list. They also made Beyond Race Magazines 50 Emerging Artists list. While Craigslist might have been essential to getting the band up and running, it may not have been the best place to find lasting members. By the end of 2009, Baer, Berenholz and Cohen were all gone from the group. Im not sure if their replacements also came from Craigslist, but I kind of doubt it. Anywho, 2 more members joined, and the band is still cranking out new music. Their latest album, Lose, came out about a month ago. This track comes from the latest album and was brought to my attention by my friend Matt. Thanks, Matt! Thats at least two of us that dig this (Im assuming), so lets see what the rest of you guys think of Cymbals Eat Guitars. * Fun Fact: The band got their name from a Lou Reed quote about the sound of the Velvet Underground. - Mr. Big #CymbalsEatGuitars #Warning #Lose #Craigslist #Pitchfork #LouReed #VelvetUnderground
