DISTRACTION CAN DERAIL JONATHAN’S TRANSFORMATION AGENDA -MAKU Category: News Published on Monday, 23 September 2013 05:00 Written by NAN Hits: 282 The Minister of Information Mr Labaran Maku yesterday in Abuja said no amount of distraction could derail President Goodluck Jonathan from his transformation agenda. Maku said this at the Lutheran Church of Christ during a Pre- Centenary Service. He said Jonathan was “still determined to develop the country to the envy of the comity of nations, in spite of the challenges of insecurity which have overheated the polity.’’ The minister said the president was addressing the deficit in infrastructure through systematic policy reforms which had started yielding results in different sectors. “The construction of seven power plants has been completed, while others are coming on stream. By the time all the power plants are completed, it is then Nigerians will appreciate the renewed efforts of Mr President on power supply in the country,’’ he said. Officiating priest Most Revd. Nemuel Baba said the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria played critical roles in the past 100 years towards promoting peace and inter-religious harmony. He appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to return schools and hospitals taken away from the missionaries in order to adequately utilise them for human development. Baba said the church would soon mount a national prayer campaign to complement the government in the areas of peace, moral re-awakening and anti-corruption crusade, among others. (NAN)
