Day 4: I am thankful for being born n the USA and not in a third world country or in abject poverty.Good morning world. Looks like rain today. :D I like the rain. Have a great day everyone. Blessed Be. )O( BOOT for today: Eventually we moved to an apartment in Woodbury. Our financial troubles continued as we insisted in enjoying life and therefor lived way beyond our means. We went to dog shows and developed a friendship first with Ruth Holman and soon thereafter with the whole Samoyed community. Ruth introduced us to Jim and Janice McGoldrick who owned Sanorka Kennels and the Grand Lady of Samoyed Society, Mrs. Davis. Both the dogs of Ruths kennel and the McGoldricks were descendants of Mrs. Daviss stock. The time came when Ruth decided to part with one of her dogs and Merreles and I acquired Champion Bethya Snowstar Flash. He was a magnificent beast who was a fun dog but extremely powerful. He could pull my Saab station wagon with little difficulty. He stood twenty-five and a half inches at the shoulders and weighed seventy-five pounds. He was well trained and well behaved for a male specimen of his breed. Disaster struck. We came home from work with the rent money in our pockets to find we had been evicted from our apartment. All our furniture was on the curb and our critters were still inside. The lock had been changed. I climbed up to the patio in the back and broke in through the sliding door. Cats were dead everywhere. The thugs who removed our furniture let Angel loose and she was quite efficient. But she had help as well. The worst was dear Pandora who had been strangled and hung from the blind chord on the window by the front door. I grabbed my shotgun and proceeded to load it. I had the full intention of killing the apartment complexs super. My neighbors and wife prevented me from following my instincts. It was only a cat after all. I called Carmine and Dottie Aragona. Dottie was my cousin, Mothers niece. Carmine showed up with a U-Haul truck and we loaded all our possessions inside. I called Janice McGoldrick. She and her husband came and collected Flash and Angel. Merreles and I spent a week at Dotties and in that time were able to get our furniture into storage and find a studio apartment in Long Island City. It was a single room with a kitchenette along one wall. We were in desperate straits and then a boon happened. I got a job with Ad Inc. in Hamden. Connecticut. With what money we had we got an apartment in Orange and Merreles transferred to the offices in Hamden. We commuted together. We retreved Flash and Angel and to our chagrin, found Angel was pregnant. Somehow Flash had broken out of his crate in the McGoldricks kennel and then proceeded to let Angel out of hers. Jimmy heard the commotion too late and when he arrived they were already tied. We raised a litter of five in an apartment. Sold four, kept Kyra. My job with Ad Inc. didnt pan out. I was a sheriff staller, phone answerer, creditor handler, and gofur who enjoyed the privilege of creating commercial artwork that was printed and published. It started my professional commercial career. I came to work one Thursday and there was a padlock on the door. Boss had been arrested, assets seized, out of business. I was out of work. The rest was just circumstance. Fortunately my wife was advancing in her office. She was promoted to full time claims adjustor.
