Dear Friends, What an amazing day! Im actually sitting here--kind of speechless. We had a packed lunch with more than 20 of St. Louis top evangelical pastors and para-church ministry leaders this afternoon. Leroy and I shared from the heart while also pressing into the theological divides that reinforce racial divides. It was clear that some leaders were not ready to do that deep of an examination, but the vast majority were ready to go there. Many leaders renewed their commitments to engage and lead their congregations to engage in the struggle for justice in Ferguson. Others left committed to growing in their understanding of biblical justice. Please pray that God would take the seeds planted today and grow them; making them a blessing to the people of Ferguson and other marginalized communities in St. Louis. And please pray for our gathering tomorrow. We are expecting 50-100 evangelical clergy to attend. There is serious buzz about the meeting among evangelical clergy networks. Finally, a deep debt of gratitude is owed to Jeremy Main and Howie Meloch (Intervarsity) and Michelle Higgins (South City Church and Covenant Seminary) for organizing both of these meetings! You guys more than rock: Your are faithful. Please pray for all three of these awesome servants. Pray Gods covering over them, their families, and their ministries as they exercise the courage of David with Goliath--daring to confront the power of race in St. Louis! Thank you again for your prayers today. They were thick and we felt them.
