Dear Lord in Heaven, please make the stupid stop. Anyone who has - TopicsExpress

Dear Lord in Heaven, please make the stupid stop. Anyone who has seen the devastation caused by real tidal waves (a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer I worked with covered the one that killed 250,000 people in 2004, sending horrific pictures to us on a daily basis) knows that the worst-case scenarios for this weeks predicted Sno-nami wont be comparable in almost any way. Even if we get all the snow predicted, calling it a tidal wave of snow is stupid. If we dont get the maximum amounts, then such dire warnings are beyond dumb. Give the storm cute names, if you must (Ellen Page was really good in the movie about this blizzard). Call it historic, if you wish (though, as a general rule and based on past weather predictor performance, it might be better to wait on that until AFTER you see how much actually arrives). Fall back on the moronic cliches of Sno-meggedon and Sno-pocalypse, if really necessary (those biblical catastrophes have yet to manifest). But dont try to link it to real world events with which it cant be compared. usatoday/story/weather/2015/01/26/northeast-blizzard-monday/22335029/
