Devilstep Hollow Cave in southern Cumberland Co. has been obtained - TopicsExpress

Devilstep Hollow Cave in southern Cumberland Co. has been obtained and preserved by the state. The public is not allowed inside at this time. Aside from its archaelogical significance, the cave also serves as the outlet for waters gathered in Grassy Cove to the northeast. All the waters than drain Grassy Cove sink into a cave and travel about 2 miles underground beneath Brady Mtn. before emerging in Devilstep Hollow Cave. From here the waters go underground again briefly and resurface as a spring which serves as headwaters of the Sequatchie River, which flows over 150 miles to empty into the Tennessee River in northern Alabama. For more on the cave, go to tennessee.edu/docs/AAFall09AncientCaver.pdf Please bear with me as I fix the pix; Facebook is being contrary this morning.
