Devotional - Wednesday, 15th October 2014 A Shift ‘The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise’ Ps. 51:17 [NKJV]. Over the next few days we are going to be learning True Repentance from the heart of David. David demonstrated true repentance in Psalm 51. Interestingly this is one of the Psalms that my grandmother made us memorize by repetition. My grandmother is illiterate so we had to memorize it in our dialect. I would encourage you to memorize Psalm 51 in your dialect; it is very powerful. There were points when I needed to repent and it was not until I recited it in my dialect that I felt the presence of God overwhelm me. English sometimes is too limited for the depths of expression that you want to take to God. Who says God speaks only English? So I want to challenge you to memorize these Scriptures in your dialect. Are you tired of being churchy and not being Christ-like? Are you tired of wearing a Christian label and your life does not reflect the life of Jesus? Are you tired of inheriting a religion but there’s no life change in you? If you can identify with any of these, I have good news for you today. This is your day of salvation and deliverance in Jesus name. True repentance is the key to a life in God. God’s desire has always been to dwell among His people. So God gave the blue prints of the tabernacle and Scripture says it is a likeness if things in heaven. In other words, if you understand it, you will understand the protocols of heaven. Immanuel means God with us. God was literarily dwelling in the midst of His people. God arranged the twelve tribes of Israel in specific order around the tabernacle with Judah at the entrance. So you enter His gates with thanksgiving and enter His courts with praise. Before you enter His gates with thanksgiving, you acknowledge the Person you are coming to meet. As you spend time with God daily, enter His presence with thanksgiving and His courts with praise but also acknowledging that He is God, He made us, He owns us, He is a good God, and His goodness does not expire. Don’t just observe your quiet time because someone said you should or that is how you have been doing it but come knowing you are coming to meet with the Maker of the heavens and the earth, your God, your Maker, your Owner, the Good God whose goodness does not expire. You are coming to meet God. Prayer[song]: Your are the Lord, let Your name be glorified (2x). We give You glory and honor. You are the Lord, let Your name be glorified.
