Disruption of Bamidele’s rally, a police affair –Fayemi BY AKINWALE ABOLUWADE, ADO EKITI Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said the state government was not responsible for disruption of the political rally by a member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, in Ado Ekiti on Thursday. Fayemi said, instead, the disruption of the rally, which the lawmaker convened to declare his ambition to contest the state 2014 governorship election, was a police affair. The governor said this in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. It said the lawmaker had “an inalienable right” to vie for any political position, saying the Fayemi-led administration had no hands in the disruption of Bamidele’s governorship campaign rally. It stated that the foiled rally was “strictly a police affair” and advised that such aspiration should be pursued within the limits of the laws guiding the electoral process. The statement said no fewer than 10 other governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state had earlier declared interest in the race without any interference from the APC-led government.
