Doctors story A young doctor choose to end his life by using the medical science. He ingested 100 tabs of digoxin for a cardiac arrest, injected 1600units of insulin to stop brain activity; by reducing sugar level, he consumed propranol again to reduce blood sugar and anxiety. Propanol also causes bradycardia. A group of doctors in Sir Ganga Ram hospital found he antidote for digoxin that is Fab. But this is not avialable in India, readily; the cost is $1600 and the requirement was 15 -20 vials. They opt charcoal based hemoperfusion to remove toxin. Propanol toxicity and low blood sugar level was tackled by injecting glucagon. The patient responded well to this therapy and discharged after six days. The decision was taken in few minutes.
