Dunning hosted the Perth and Kinross Gents Stroyan Trophy on Sunday and here are the results: Stroyan Trophy 2014 The countys oldest and most valuable trophy was played for over Dunning Links on Sunday May 25th. The weather was wet for a few holes but brightened later. The welcome was warm and friendly, the course in great condition and, those teams who were able to attend, competed well and in a sporting atmosphere. Cast your minds back to the 1990s when King James V1 Golf Club were at the forefront of County Golf, with Russell Patterson and Scott Fenton being hard to beat in any competition, especially if short games were required. In 2014 the flowing blond locks may have been replaced by more streamlined, tontured hairlines, but the short games are still sharp. It was not just their pates which were shining in the afternoon sun but their pitching, putting and scoring. The Kinross pair of Scott Michie and Andy Jackson scored two shots worse but held firm to finish as runners-up. They did well to cope with some unbelievable golf played by their scoring companion, another golfer turning back the years. A big thank you to the officials and staff at Dunning Golf Club for a good day and arguably the best bacon rolls on the P+K circuit.
