Educate yourself about common Salon Violations.......3.Nail tools can not be reused and stored unsanitarily in a drawer for use. They must be sanitized after each use. This includes buffers, files, drill bits and nail clippers etc. Proper sanitation will require state required procedures to clean each tool after each client use. 4.The state requires that tools be sanitized in the following steps: Remove all foreign matter from the object, wash with hot water & soap, rinse clean and dry. A wet disenfectant must be available to completely immerse the tool for 10-15 minutes. Upon disenfection the tool should be dried then stored in a sealed and labeled container. This sanitation process includes the "kits" that have been stored for you. The tools in them still must be sanitized correctly after each use, then stored when completely dry to avoid bacteria and mold growth. If the tools look dirty, get up and walk out! 5.Nail Technicians are NOT licensed to do any waxing in the state of Virginia. They must have a cosmetology, esthetics or wax technician license to perform waxing services on the body or face. 7.No sticks can be left in the wax pot, this may mean that they double dip....gross and dangerous! Tweezers must be properly sanitized after each use. 8.Drill bits on the end of nail drills must be properly sanitized after each customer. Brown/black sanding bands are one time use and should be thrown away after each use. 9.Nail Technicians are required to sanitize their work station between clients and cleanse their hands before each client. Customers are also required to wash hand before a service.
