Every night I make sure Noah isnt tangled up in his IV line. And - TopicsExpress

Every night I make sure Noah isnt tangled up in his IV line. And every day, I make sure that same line stays neatly tucked into his little giraffe back pack so that it doesnt catch on anything and pull his needle out of his chest. He gets wrapped in plastic wrap around the chest so he can take a bath ( carefully so as not to get the dressing wet even when wrapped), and bath time is no longer the carefree bubbly wet play that it used to be. Once a week the home health nurse comes to take the port needle out and place a new one. My son never moves. Even in the hospital when they arent as quick to get the needle back in. No matter what. Even if he cries or screams from the pain, he doesnt move. Ever. He knows that if he does another stick will have to happen. He does his treatments every morning and every night without resistance. And swallows every pill hes told to take. Noah has had 7 bronchoscopies, sinus surgery, and even surgery on both legs unrelated to CF ( casted afterward from the knees down). He has been hospitalized more times than I can count, and most of those have been during a holiday. Yet he never complains. Ever. People tell me how strong I am, how brave I am, and they just dont know how I do it. Ive only just begun to learn to live my life bravely and with no regret. Im learning this from my little boy.
