Everyone seems to be interested in preventing aging and/or in aging gracefully. I wish we could lose our fixation with remaining young, as I find that everything improves as I age. (And I do mean EVERYTHING.) There are some simple techniques that can be used to help keep us thinking and feeling younger. I use the acronym SACRED to explain how we can all age more gracefully: Stimulate: Staying stimulated by engaging in social activities is essential to delaying feeling old. Antioxidants: Antioxidants are known to improve cell health and have been shown to slow down the aging process in some instances. Cognitive Function: Similar to staying stimulated, we all need to use use it or lose it. Engaging in activities that stimulate our cognitive abilities is key to remaining sharp in our older years. Real Foods: As always, consuming real food instead of processed enables our body to work better and may help slow the aging process. Exercise: Exercise is vital for keeping tissues and mental processes young. Theres just no escaping it. The key is to make it FUN. Detoxification: Keeping cells and body systems clean allows them to function more efficiently and is known to help slow the aging process. Thats it!
