FALL MIGRATION BIRD COUNT Prairie Creek Preserve Saturday, September 20th 7:00am-12:00pm The North American Migration Count (NAMC) is Contintent-wide program that is designed to assess migrating bird populations in the spring and fall. The main goal of the NAMC is to gather bird migration data that can help inform decision makers on issues that pertain to birds. Data has been collected since the early 90’s and that data is currently being processed in a central database with the expressed intent of having the data analyzed at a future date. We will be scouring Prairie Creek Preserve all morning for migrating birds, going off-trail most of the time. Comfy rubber boots are necessary since we will be walking long distances through wet and soggy terrain. Fall is great time to bird in central Florida because migrating birds pass through Florida in larger numbers on their way back to Central and South America. WHAT TO BRING Binoculars, long pants, and rubber boots are NEEDED. Also bring snacks and plenty of water. WHERE Prairie Creek Preserve (Witness Tree Junction) WHEN Saturday, September 20th 7:00am-12:00pm FOR MORE INFORMATION or SIGN UP Please RSVP (contact Chris Burney at act.chrisb@gmail) if you are interested in joining our group- space will be limited.
