FG to partner with Plateau for development By ISRAEL LAR PRESIDENT Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has assured that the federal government would continue to partner with the Plateau State government under the leadership of Governor Jonah David Jang towards providing development the state. The President gave the assurance of the thanksgiving service of Governor Jonah David Jang as he attained the age of 70 at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Regional Church Council (RCC) Du in Jos South LGA of the state yesterday. Represented by the Vice President Arch Namadi Sambo, the President while assuring the Governor of the Federal Government support towards transforming the life of Plateau people, “As you grow older, you grow wiser, and we believe that, the wisdom would be applied not only to better the lives of Plateau people, but all Nigerians” he added. He further said he appreciated the giant strides and standing leadership quality which he is displaying in serving his state and the Nigeria Governors Forum of which he (Jang) is the chairman. While enumerating the governor’s development strides which included the construction and rehabilitation of roads spanning over 1000 kilometers, upgrading of hospitals, construction of over head-bridge in Gada Biyu Jos with one under construction along secretariat junction and numerous other projects. Also speaking at the occasion, the Senate President, Senator David Mark while congratulating the governor for attaining the age of maturity said their friendship started long ago when they were in the military, adding that the Governor Jang that he knows was a person who always fought for the oppressed since their days in the Staff College Jaji while they were in the military. He used the occasion to acknowledge the giant strides of Governor Jang while he was the military governor of old Benue and old Gongola States, describing the development as the best ever done by any military officer who served in those states. In his remarks, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic {arty (PDP) Alhaji Adamu Muazu described Governor Jang as an accomplished person who has made his mark in all the places he served, adding that he is a focused officer while in the military and up to date. He said, Governor Jang as a life member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, he would not leave the party urging the people of Plateau State to start praying for a successor who would continue from the developmental oriented person like Governor Jang. The Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ignatius Longjan while appreciating the dignitaries that attended the occasion, said the governor has been supportive and would ever remain loyal to him. In his sermon, Arch Bishop Benjamin Kwashi who took his reading from the book of Acts 4, urged leaders to stop listening to those telling them about other people, saying those people do not mean well for them and the progress of their office. There were good will messages from the representative of the wife of the President Professor, Viola Onwuleri, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, PDP Governors Forum, Governor Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Reng Ochekpe amongst others.
