FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Living Out His Word : Quoted Verse: “ All Your Words are true; all Your righteous laws are eternal. Psalm 119:160. Message: It is clear from the Bible and from the experience of Gods people that as we seek God through His Word, our lives are changed. Of course our purpose in getting into the Word is not to become walking information booths with an answer for every question that comes along. We come to Gods Word to become people who are more like Christ. We can see this influence of Gods Word in the life of Daniel. In Daniel 9:2 we read, In the first year of Darius the king, i Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the Word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. Here is Daniel, having his daily devotions in the writings of Jeremiah, when he discovered something that dramatically altered the course of his life. He belived what he read; He meditated on what he read; he acted upon what he read; and his life changed. Notice Daniel 9:3: I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition. Communication from God was immediately followed by communion with God. Daniel in his study of the Scriptures did not just seek mere information but revelation from God. This is what helped him to have communion with God. Through the Word and prayer, our spiritual life is strengthened. This leads to the result we find in Daniel 11:32: The people who know their God will firmly resist the enemy. * To know the Lord is to love Him with all your heart, strength, mind, soul, etc. ** To love Him is to serve Him with a whole hearted devotion. Other versions say: With a whole heart and a willing mind. When serving the Lord, do not leave your wealth behind. There is nothing that we have that did not come from Him. All that we have accomplished, He has done for us. Serve the Lord with your wealth as well. (Isaiah 26:12). So the whole process begins with time in His Word, and then continues with time on our knees, and results in effective service in His kingdom. Allow me to put it across to you in this way: God speaks to us through His Word. We meet God in His Word as we read His Word, study His Word, meditate on His Word, learn to apply His Word, etc. As we do that we receive a revelation of who God truly is and He becomes like that in our lives. You will not only know about the stories in the Bible, but you will know and experience in your life the God and power behind those stories. Prayer is a direct communication with God. It entails our responses to God regarding or concerning His Word or message to us. Prayer and the Word of God go hand in hand. The two are inseparable. (John 15:7) Meditation: When faith and obedience accompany our study of the Bible, our lives will never be the same. Prayer: Lord, i am Yours. Make my life count for Your kingdom, in Jesus name, Amen. Remain Blessed.
