FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 26, 2014, Indiana owned and operated Woof Boom Radio launched “The New Sound of 104.9 WERK-FM”. WERK is one of the great radio stations of all time. The music we are now playing has tremendous appeal to the people that live in East Central Indiana, commented Woof Boom President J Chapman. It is a pleasure to locally program a station that serves our community and listeners. After completing a month-long run as The Christmas Station,” 104.9 WERK-FM launched the new format today at midnight. Vice President, Director of Operations Steve Lindell said, “This is the perfect time to build on a great heritage and fill a much desired void in music that is not available in our market.” WERK-FM Program Director Jay Garrison added, “As we got closer to the launch, and we ran many tests of the sound of the station – it was even better than we imagined. We really believe that we will have a station that people will be passionate about. Ive told people that WERKs 50th birthday is not a mid-life crisis; WERK has been born-again! Familiar air talent like Steve “Brownie” Brown in the morning, Zach Johnson, Paul Evans, Jay Garrison, Wade Stokes and others will remain. Local weather, as well as news and community information and support of local events will always be a priority as well. The music product will range from 1975 – 2000. Bryan Adams, Pat Benetar, Billy Joel, Madonna, Journey, and Huey Lewis. Additionally, some of the great broadcasting talent through the years will step in-front of the mic from time-to-time as WERK celebrates itS 50th birthday. Broadcasters like David Letterman, Bill Shirk, Bruce Munson all have been on the staff of this great station over the years. Privately held Woof Boom Radio was formed in 2013 to restore local control to radio listeners in east central Indiana, Woof Boom Radio has acquired it’s first six radio stations with a combined reach of an estimated 89,400 weekly listeners.
