FREE video Number One as promised. As school starts, its always nice to begin some social skills lessons with the Name Game. Even if kids know each others names, this game starts the conversation about Whole Body Listening, social proximity and eye gaze during conversations. With this type of activity, you set the stage for expectations about social structure. You want to make sure you stress that when you are talking to someone (even just saying their name) that your body gives information about whether you are engaged in the conversation or not! This video illustrates how you might talk about moving your body closer and giving someone your eyes during an initiation of communication. You will see that with this video curriculum we are producing, we have superimposed suggested goals throughout the video. We understand that time on learning is important and that goals need to be created that address social skills in FUNCTION. We are not suggesting that you use all of the goals. We tried to create an array so that you can pick and choose which goals fit your classroom or an individual childs specific IEP needs. Please feel free to share the video and give us some feedback.
