FUNDAMENTALIST COUPLE DISCUSS BUYING A CAR: HUSBAND: Salam darling, you know, with the children going to school, and our work commitments, perhaps we should start looking for a car? WIFE: A car? But weve been over this before. Dont you remember we went to get a fatwa from Sheikh Abu Jahl, and he said we should get a camel, as camels are sunnah. HUSBAND: Yes, dear... camels are sunnah... But where are we going to keep a camel in London? How are we going to feed and look after it?? WIFE: The Prophet, peace be upon him, managed to keep camels fourteen hundred years ago, are you saying we cant now, in 1435? HUSBAND: But where are we going to put it? Seriously? We live in a flat, we dont even have a garden! WIFE: Sheikh Abu Jahl said, We have many ahadith such as this one: Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: I sold a camel to the Prophet on one of the journeys. When we reached Medina, he ordered me to go to the Mosque and offer two Rakat. Then he weighed for me (the price of the camel in gold) and gave an extra amount over it. A part of it remained with me till it was taken by the army of Sham on the day of Harra. Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.775 They prove the Prophet, peace be upon him, had a camel, we cant find any that say he drove a car. HUSBAND: But, not in London... We cant keep a camel in London, where are we going to park it, and even if we did, how much would the fines be? WIFE: See, I told you we should make hijrah to a Muslim land, the kufar West is stopping us from practising Islam!
