Facebook - do you know someone whos a FB snooper or maybe theyre a keyboard gangster? Have you fallen foul to one? or have you been the perpetrator or smear campaigner yourself? The worst of it is that it doesnt just stay on FB pages. A FB smear campaign is a breeding ground for bullys and cowards who hide behind anonymous pictures and exaggerated statuss of those people desperately seeking human contact. You often see people feverishly adding friends, believing the total sum of FB friends in some way reflects their popularity as some sort of status symbol. Its not! FB is more antisocial than social. It permeates your work, your friends and even your life. Potential employers check you out . Other people unknown to you - just by a google search - can easily check you out. FB makes sure anyone can pinpoint you right to where youre having a drink - just post it. You dont know whos watching you?! How dodgy is that?! Yes, many FB friends are made - and just as swiftly, unmade! One wrong post can bring your life and those of your close friends and families lives come crashing down right around about them. So what do you do when someone posts something you think is aimed at you? Thats if youve not turned paranoid by that point-? Well... You block them - yes - thats right- you cut them off. The kind of thing you were taught was wrong and cruel to do to other people. We were taught to communicate hence the English exam in school being such an important exam. But how do you communicate to redress a misinterpretation, especially one subject to Chinese whispers - when youre not permitted to communicate - when the door of opportunity get firmly shut in your face, unfairly - when you get blocked! How do you clear your name, when virtual friends jump on the bandwagon of the hate campaign? You cant. Why? Because the boundaries of reality and virtuality have become so confused people everywhere are losing the ability to resolve misunderstandings and just putting an immediate end to friendships and potential friendships because they can with the click of a button, unfriend, or ohhhh oh stop and type in their name in your blocked list! Yes... Thatll sort them! Sad thing is- its usually real friends and family on the receiving end of this treatment. Not virtual FBookers - all blocked and unfriended people who get spitefully cut off from the embodiment of their former FB family & community of friends, suffer. Why? Coz Thatll teach them... Sound familiar?! Yup, loads of us have done it! It seems weve turned into a world of virtual puppets with the human race almost imploding in on itself fragmenting families and friends causing a greater dependence on FB in a vain hope of scrapping for any fragments of friendship with anyone wholl connect with us by accepting a friend request - usually poached from somebody elses FB friends list. How sad. Weve all saw those sad posts is anybody awake out there...?! I dont want to spend any more time in this virtual world - Im taking control of my life again. Im heading back into the real world, with real people, real faces, and real lives that takes courage and communication on a soul to soul level and effort, tolerance, empathy and understanding. Oh. I know you could always post everything as seen by only you doh?! Lets all be a narcisst and live on our own island?! Not going to happy. Man is not an island. Again, losing contact with reality and normality! So... I for one intend making a stand against FB. I will use it only as an advertising medium and an entertainment platform. There will be no personal connections made to me or my life or that of my family or friends. In addition, I will only use my mobile phone text messaging service for brief messages - not in place of real live verbal communication. When is enough just too much?! When your emotions are being affected by virtual, public exposure to every part of your life! FB strips people of their dignity and does not allow for human errors, misinterpretation or misrepresentation. If it was you who said it ! Its you wholl take the wrap! Its that simple! Changes will be made to my FB account as already mentioned with all snooper friends being removed. I may eventually close my FB completely and redo it as professional pages only.
