Finally finished! After a successful trial run with some cotton on my new wheel, I felt I was ready to make the leap back to my angora and am pleased with the results! Im happy to announce that adjusting from spindle to wheel was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Although...Im a little worried that there may not be enough twist in the yarn, as I went rather quickly. Would it be wise to run it through the wheel one more time to make sure theres enough twist? Ive heard its not good to under-spin angora because of shedding. Also, opinions. This was made from the show coat of my beloved herd sire who I lost last summer, and the wool won Best Overall Wool at our national convention this year. Needless to say it is very sentimental to me. I wish to make a shawl out of it. I have worked with single-ply lace before and have been pleased with the results. However Im toying with the idea of double plying this. Im not exactly sure on yardage yet, but its possible I may have enough for a smaller shawl if I double ply. What would you do? Large, extravagant single ply or small and dainty double ply?
