Hershey pulls advertising from Al Jazeera America aka CurrentTV. Hershey has pulled their advertising from Al Jazeera America aka CurrentTV. Florida Family Association’s monitoring records found NO Hershey advertisements on the channel this week. Additionally, Hershey confirmed the change in their email below dated June 10, 2013. This is how the Hershey advertising situation played out: Florida Family Association sent out email alerts starting on April 22, 2013 announcing that Hershey was the top advertiser on Al Jazeera America aka CurrentTV. The Hershey Company responded with an email stating that they intended to continue to advertise because they (erroneously) purported that Al Jazeera did not own CurrentTV yet. Florida Family Association sent letters to all of the Board of Directors for The Hershey Company, Hershey Trust and Hershey Park on May 24, 2013 which informed them that a press release would be issued on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 announcing plans to fly a banner stating HERSHEY SPONSORS JIHADTV around Hershey Park and Jersey Shore. The Hershey Company sent an email on Tuesday, June 10, 2013 at 6:00 pm to inform Florida Family Association that they were not going to advertise on CurrentTV aka Al Jazeera America.
