For those who sang under the direction of JOHN HAYWARD, 1977-81, heres one for you! I dont think hes on Facebook, so Im posting this with his permission. He would love to hear from former students, so feel free to message me to receive his email address. Hey Susan Meeks, thank you so much for taking the time to organize the Alumni Choir effort! I was the choir director after Jeanne Meredith, hard shoes to follow, 1977-81. I wanted so much to be in attendance at the 50th reunion but ran out of time to get there and back by my Sunday service (choir director) and weve just begun the choir season. Im sure you can relate. Too bad. Those were the most memorable years of my teaching career. I vividly remember so many teachers and students at WSHS. It was an exciting, active, fun place, so close to Washington, theatre, art, music, great weather, nice people. Wonderful place to be. Seems like yesterday and yet so long ago. I have been in touch with a couple students and am sending them a copy of one of our May Fiestas. I found a VHS and put it in DVD format. I also just recently found audio recordings for every concert we did during those years. Fall, Musical, Sounds of Praise, Madrigal and May Fiesta. No videos, just recordings. they appear to be in good shape. Well see. They were a wonderful choir, bright kids, supportive families (began the Booster Club ), beautiful sound. If I can get these reels put on disc I will send you some choral samplers. My problem is time. Ive a dozen projects going all the time. Again, stay in touch with WSHS Choir info. please.
