For those worried about what todays press release involving the Endangered Species Act and monarch butterflies will mean to classrooms & citizen scientists handling or raising monarchs: Not to worry. This is a long process - five to ten years. Well find out in 3 months if US Fish and Wildlife Service deems the proposal worthy of further review. Most importantly, keep in mind the designation being sought is threatened (which no one will dispute) instead of endangered - big difference. Stay tuned, stay involved and stay informed. Our grandkids are watching attentively to our actions.
