For what Sr. Judith Brun at Inspire Charter Academy is paying for - TopicsExpress

For what Sr. Judith Brun at Inspire Charter Academy is paying for her LEASE on her building for just one year, EVERY low income family in Baton Rouge could receive a home library of books that they and their children pick out, and parents could use those books to help their children become incredibly more proficient at reading than they currently are. Impact? Increase 4th grade reading skills by the equivalent of nearly two years. For the cost of another years rent (over $1,000,000) the program could also train parents in using these books, and conversations with their children, to significantly reduce the gaps that exist currently between middle income and low income families. And some wonder why I say charters are a giant step backwards....
