Former welterweight titlist Joshua Clottey has signed with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing on an exclusive promotional contract.The former IBF king has been absent from the ring since his knockout of Calvin Johnson last year and his new contract is a boot to a career that took a nosedive after his bout against Filipino superstar,Manny Pacquaio. “We are very excited to welcome Joshua Clottey to the Star Boxing team.He’s fought the very best in the world including Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto and fits very favorably in the mix in the top ten middleweights in the world” an elated DeGuardia said at the announcement. “Ive watched Joshua for many years and have always been very impressed by his power and aggresive style.His world title fight against Miguel Cotto was one of the most memorable bouts New York fight fans have seen for many years” he continued. Details of Clottey’s first bout under the Star Boxing banner will be announced shortly.
