Four states of consciousness The waking state-when you have - TopicsExpress

Four states of consciousness The waking state-when you have access to the full use of the will while the subconscious and involuntary functions which govern our habits and health (Destiny), are in the background. The sleep state -when the subconscious and involuntary functions come to the foreground while the will recedes into the background. The meditation state (combines key aspects of waking and sleep) - the state midway between waking and sleeping (hence the term “medi” in meditation). In this state both involuntary and subconscious functions and the will remain in the foreground. The union has been referred to as Yoga, the mystical marriage that occurs in heaven, the union of the Sun and the Moon; Tai Chi, the union of the yin and yang. The original state [of being] - when we experience ourselves as pure consciousness (consciousness without objects of perception). It is in the meditation state that we must declare our will for transcending habits and conditionings. Such declarations are not willfully possible when we are asleep, for the will slumbers then, and it is not readily possible when we are in the waking state as the subconscious wishes in charge of our habits and involuntary functions are then in the background. This is the reason people have such difficulties transcending their habits, and why meditation is successful as a healing practice. It is in this state, the mid-state between the dynamic opposites of the body that such states find their equilibrium. htp
