From My Front Porch: How I have missed my porch lately but this - TopicsExpress

From My Front Porch: How I have missed my porch lately but this afternoon is simply too perfect to resist. While planning the worship service for this coming Sunday I was led to the chorus of I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary As I began to ponder the lyrics to the song I began to recall sacrifices of believers down thru the centuries that furthered the cause of Christ. The sentence Ill believe whatever the cost really stuck in my brain. What has following Christ ever cost me? not one thing that I can think of. As a matter of fact, following Christ has brought more to my life than I could ever imagine. Pastor Keith and I were talking this morning about persecution and how believers today really cant comprehend what its like to be persecuted for our faith. Doubtless, there are many believers who have given their very lives for the sake of the Gospel but those of us living on American soil cant fathom that. We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave and have no clue what its like to truly suffer for the cause of Christ. Our nation has found itself at a dangerous crossroads where religious freedom is being questioned and attempts are being made to silence religious leaders. Where will this lead? No one knows but Christ. If you are like me, you really dont want to be inconvenienced let alone persecuted. But when drawn back to the lyrics whatever the cost we must ask ourselves this question. Am I ready and willing to stand for Christ no matter what it may cost me? Would to God that should that day come, I will be strong enough to stand and say Ill believe whatever the cost, and when time has surrendered and earth is no more, Ill still cling to the old rugged cross. youtu.be/wTyuT3WkrEE
