Typically made from polypropylene or polyester Geotextiles comes in three basic forms: woven, needle punched or heat bonded. As the use of Geotextiles fabric has expanded Geotextile composites have been introduced and products such as geogrids and meshes have been developed. Overall Geotextile fabrics are permeable which when used in association with soil have the ability to separate, filter, reinforce, protect or drain. These materials are referred to as geosynthetics and each configuration, geogrids and other can yield certain benefits in geotechnical environments engineering design .These products have a wide range of application and currently used to advantage in many civil engineering application including roads .airfield and coastal engineering.
