Geckos can cling to slick glass surface with just one toe - TopicsExpress

Geckos can cling to slick glass surface with just one toe supporting their whole body weight. They do this with tiny fibers on their toes called setae, which in turn have even tinier fibers called spatulae. These miniscule fibers allow for an effect called Van der Waals force. Van der Waals forces create a bond between the thousands of fibers and the surface on which the Gecko clings. Norwex cloths do the same thing, though not nearly as efficiently as a gecko’s toe. You can clean green without chemicals because the micro fibers of the Norwex cloth split off into even tinier fibers. These minute fibers are able to grab hold of fine particles – even bacteria – allowing you to lift them off the surface, wiping with only water. Greasy fingerprints, dirt, dust, waxy gunk – all of it comes right up without the need to use detergents, soaps or cleansing agents. You can clean your body with Norwex washcloths, too. From removing makeup to bathing, those with sensitivities to soaps and fragrances can get clean with just water and a Norwex personal care cloth.
