Guys, I know this isnt Anime or cosplay related, but this is something thats really important to me and if you have a second to read, please do. A lot of cosplayers ask people to support either them or another artist, but sometimes I will bring attention to someone outside our community who REALLY needs the support. Lolita is pretty special to me. Shes an orca who just a few days ago celebrated her 44th anniversary of being stolen from her home in the wild, and lives a dismal, isolated existence in the smallest Orca tank in the USA. (Please watch the video to see how shes currently living) Orcas, or killer whales, are actually dolphins, and like their bottlenose captive counterparts, they do not thrive in captivity. Sea parks destroy their crucial social structures by ripping apart families both in the wild AND in their care. The animals get sick and die early, either by self inflicted injuries on their artificial tanks, or from lack of mental and physical stimulation. (Animals that swim 100s of kilometers now confined to fishbowls) As well as this, money that goes into se aquariums pays drive hunts in Japan (anyone considering visiting Japan should keep this in mind), which are essentially organized cullings of dolphins, porpoises and whales, where the attractive animals are sold to aquaria for large amounts of money, and the rest deemed unfit are slaughtered. While you will be preparing for fall cons, this will be going on in Japan. Again I know this isnt cosplay related and I will normally avoid stuff like this, but if I can get even ONE of you to reconsider going to a seapark this coming season and not support this cruelty, itll make it worth it. Show anyone who wants to swim with dolphins or go to Seaworld a video like this. Watch The Cove, or Blackfish, and make the compassionate choice for Lolita, and all the other orcas and dolphins, both captive and wild, across the world
