HON AMON BAZIRA: A TRUE SON OF KASESE DISTRICT THAT WARNED THE WORLD ABOUT THE IMPENDING GENOCIDE IN RWANDA AND DRC ============================================ After helping to remove Idi Amin, Amon Bazira served as Deputy Director of intelligence, and then promoted to the rank of Director of Intelligence in Uganda in 1979. In 1981 Amon Bazira took up his seat as MP for Kasese West Constituency in Parliament along side his contemporaries that included, Hon Amon Kambere for Kasese South constituency and these two were later joined by Hon Lt. Tom Baluku for Kasese North constituency. Hon Amon Bazira was then appointed Deputy Minister of Lands, Water and Mineral resources in the UPC govt from 1981-85 1979 Amon Bariza produced a government report predicting that there would be a massive genocide in Rwanda that would lead to the collapse of order in Central and Eastern Africa, and proposed granting citizenship to Rwandan refugees and other displaced Africans in Uganda, as a means of preventing genocidal warfare. Fast forward and see what really happened. That Genocide eventually took place in Rwanda 1994 in which there was mass slaughter of ethnic Tutsis & moderate Hutus by the reactionary forces from both the RPF & Habyalimanas govt agents. Over the course of approximately 100 days (from the assassination of Juvénal Habyarimana and Cyprien Ntaryamira on 6/4/1994 through to mid-July on the orders of Paul Kagame) over 500,000 people were killed, according to a Human Rights Watch estimate. Estimates of the death toll have ranged from 500,000–1,000,000, or as much as 20% of the countrys total population. We have also seen over 6 million people killed needlessly in senseless wars in the Democratic Republic of Congo after the RPF and NRM invaded Zaire, overthrew Mubutu and installed Laurent-Désiré Kabila as a puppet president. Laurent-Désiré was eventually killed by his backers after he asked them to return back to their countries of origin. Todate, these killings are still taking place in DRC by militias backed by both Rwanda and Uganda. Everything you predicted in your Report in 1979 has become a reality in my lifetime.
