HOUSE REPUBLICANS CAN MAKE IMMIGRATION REFORM HAPPEN -- IF THEY WANT TO Most recently, a third House Republican signed on to the comprehensive immigration bill that was introduced by House Democrats a few weeks ago. While it seems unlikely that this bill will garner enough support from House members to be brought up for a vote, it indicates that lawmakers are still working behind the scenes to move on immigration reform before years end. Rep. Jeff Denham, one of the three GOP members to get behind the democratic bill, said he expects more Republicans to ultimately come on board, and has also said that House GOP leadership told him there would be a vote on something immigration-related by the end of the year. Hundreds of conservative lobbyists went to Washington this week to meet with Republican lawmakers and convince them to pass immigration reform. It remains to be seen what impact this will have, but one thing is for certain-- if more House Republicans come forward urging action, GOP leaders will have no choice but to address immigration reform and hopefully bring the issue to conference with the Senate. If that happens, there is a pretty good chance of a bill being passed. PLEASE WATCH FOR MORE INFORMATION SOON.
