Had to share this from my friend who has OIL WELLS and drilling on HER land...here is the personal experience from her response to someone who is pro oil: KCC? Shame on you. Mr. Johnson, I do not own the mineral rights, you are correct. What you term as sloppy work is just their general routine. I have had 4 Oil companies in 10 years financially responsible for the pumps, so it is not one person being sloppy. Pump jack operators...I have had dozens. Oil drilling is filthy business and dangerous, so you dont get real quality people, and the companies dont care about taht as long as they have a body doing the work. I have had many with criminal records, child molesters and even a rapist on my property. And the regulatory governing board is a joke. You can read a ton of books, all day long, but what you read and what actually happens, are 2 completely different things. Kansas Corporation Commision investigated: the spills at my house, and they are in bed with the oil companies. No fines have ever been issued, and they work toward keeping their relationships with big oil as opposed to protecting natural resources like water and land. The EPA wouldnt even bother to come out because it wasnt dumping directly into a river, even tho the creek goes into Stranger Creek, which goes into the river. There are not enough jobs in the country to justify what an oil pipeline could do to the environment. If you dont live it and just read about it on some pro-oil website, you really have no idea what it is REALLY like, and frankly what you are talking about. Which is why I invited you to my place so you could see for yourself. If it was so fricking great, and would create so many wonderful jobs, why isnt Canada running it across their land? Think!!!
