Has the progress of the capitalist world, for the sake of the Islamic leadership’s desires, stood still? Or is it not true that the speed of the growth of the production forces of the capitalist world has risen many fold? With or without the wishes of the Islamic republican leadership, capitalism has, non-stop, through its discoveries of new technical fields, made astonishing progress within the past few years alone. This is an undeniable fact. Industrial and agricultural output throughout the advanced capitalist world has in the past few years compared with that of the years following World War II, seen at least a ten-fold jump, while output in the same fields in the most advanced Islamic states has at its best risen by only two-thirds in the industrial field and two-fifths in the agricultural sector. Work output should not be mistaken with the production level, as the production level is dependent on many factors such as energy resources, financial assets and population. But work output is of a different nature. It is, for instance, possible that a country which has a poorer record on population numbers, mineral and natural wealth can have a greater production level to that of a country that has a higher population and is better off in terms of mineral and natural wealth, but at the same time it has a much greater work output than the other. The degree of progress of the production forces of a society is determined by its work output. And the work output itself is measured as an average product of a worker in a specified time. The higher the average production output of a worker in a given time, the more will the output of the society be. The factors that directly affect work output are: • The degree of technical advances and working tools. Within the limits of the average time consumption of a worker’s output, the overall output of the commodity depends on the degree of advancement in production tools. Production by machinery is ten times or even a hundred times more than manual production. • Workers’ capabilities and the momentum by which they work. • The organization and the management-placement of workers in the most appropriate area of work as part of a team, and a better division of tasks in relation to work. • The degree of scientific advances and technological impacts in production. These are the points with which the Islamic leadership is in agreement.
