Haven 112 Complete Truly a Beautiful result A message from Team Leader Kate This haven was created with peace, love and so much joy. This experience as Team Leader, collaborating with the co-ordinators and one of the co-founders, Manuela and all who donated has been a life changing experience for me. By having the privilege of setting up Haven 112, it has enabled me to see the best in people. Positive, kind, pro-active people full of energy to help and knowing we are supporting a family who has travelled a tough road, get a fresh start and can now sleep peacefully at night and begin their journey of healing and living the life they dreamed. Although my team was small, I always felt supported and encouraged. Throughout the whole process, I took the advise of Just breathe, and that is what I did. At no point was there any stress involved and everything flowed and co-ordinated together beautifully, even though often, I did not specify my preference for colours or some items required. The generosity and kind heartedness that this project entailed can only give this family an amazing new start, as the walls are filled with love in creating their new home and now they have a place to call home. Although I feel weary, the satisfaction I feel far outweighs any of this. There were a lot of hours behind the scenes collaborating donations and working out logistics but it definitely flowed. My favourite bit was decorating and transforming this unit into a much required home. But I was not a one man band - I had assistance. I would like to send out a HUGE thankyou to everyone involved. If I have missed you in acknowledging your donations, I apologise now but your input was definitely valued. You have all reinforced to me, that community is so important to helping one another especially when you are down, and that it does take a village. Big shout out to my family -My hubstar Dominic, Jordan, Harley, Cooper, Lucia and my Dad, Rob. They were all involved whether it be picking up deliveries, assembling furniture, hanging pictures, sweeping, tuning the TV but also allowing me the opportunity to schedule this into our already busy life of work, school and activities. Narlena -bathmat, toilet mat, door mat, and toilet brush Nicole - 3m hooks and groceries Jodie -laundry basket, pegs and coat hangers Diane -pillows, door mat, rubbish bin, broom, mop and shower curtain Connie - new wardrobe and 2x chest of drawers and payment of delivery Shannon -Dining table and chairs Kym - Washing machine, and carpet squares Debbie -Lamps, pictures, clock, batteries and light bulbs Karen - toiletries Rob -Bamboo screening and installed Tamara- ironing board and cover, throw cushions, wall clock and clothes airer Megan - bedside tables, perfumes and throw cushions Ailsa -Lamp, storage container, fruit bowl Shelley and family - artwork, outdoor table, hemmed curtains for me, oil burner melts, dream catcher, earrings, shelf and ribbons for tying back the curtains but also for your endless support and encouragement. You make a great cheerleader! Danielle -potted plants My mentor DJ for your muscles and collaborating pick up and delivery of fridge, Queen bed and many goodies. Thankyou for your enthusiasm, encouragement and dedication to this cause. Also a big thankyou to all the co-ordinators involved. I know there are more than I spoke too but Rae, Trish, Ofelia, Fiona, Sarah, Chrissy, Sue and Katie. Linen, kitchen, curtains, welcome packs, laundry and bathroom packs. All of these were amazing, such very high quality and I was proud to place them into this home. Extra shout outs for the donations directly from coordinators or collaborated of an arm chair, bedside table, chopping board, foot spa, dvd player, stereo, microwave, curtains and rods. All these are the little details that help pull it altogether. Often we hear negativity regarding social media but I can honestly say that by using this tool, the message about Domestic violence being a real issue we face in our society and seeing community come together whether by facebook or our website Assist A Sista, we were able to meet the required needs for this haven plus more, continue to spread the word. We were a crucial part in setting another family free and enabling a fresh start. This is such a wonderful, powerful and positive gift to give and share. We were involved in giving a hand up. Many thanks Keep Shining Kate XO Thank you all! ❤️
