Havent really slept in many days. On the coast the tropical heat and the bugs kept me awake until dawn. Yesterday I ascended 7,000 feet to Mexico City where its refreshingly cool, but Im caught up in that insomnia cycle that wont quit and which is compounded by alarm clocks that ring at 5:00 a.m. to hustle me off to a bus station or an airport. Walked out into the dark this morning and took three subway lines to the airport. Its 7:00 a.m. With a change of planes in New York, Ill arrive in Lisbon tomorrow morning around 8:00 a.m. I dont sleep on planes. Im desperate for sleep. Not complaining, though. I feel alive. This is how I like to live.
