Having a successful business is all about building what you need to get done into your day while also doing what you love to do – especially when you are an artists. In all the time I’ve been working with artists, the great ones have these qualities in common: They establish time for themselves, their family and set limits on their time – it’s just as important to create your art as it is to be with family and friends. They disregard any idea about the notion of “perfectionism.” They ask for and seek help from skilled professionals when it comes to areas they are not an expert in. They hold steadfast to their artistic integrity by never creating something that is for the masses; instead they create because it is what they feel is right and necessary They accept that failure is only one step in the process of success; by failing they are learning that success will come from another path – so they try again. They never apologize for their artistic expression. They never give up on what they love, adore and have deep, rooted passions for; if they did, many of them would feel they betrayed a vital part of themselves. They focus on the process of creating and not on the end result – what the outcome is, is simply the gift at the end of a long journey. They do something every day, no matter what! They don’t worry about what other artists are doing – they simply want to be the best artist they can be.
