Height of frustration....a letter to Rahul Gandhi by my brother Hello Mr. Rahul Gandhi My name is Sambit Nayak. I am a law abiding, tax paying citizen from the state of Odisha, India. I have 2 long standing concerns, which I tried getting answers from various quarters but to no avail. So, you as an youth icon and the next leader of our country are my last hope. - A couple of month back, a colleague of mine from the UK was visiting my office in Bhubaneswar. While driving him back to his hotel, he was sitting in my car and there were a herd of cattle roaming freely on a 6 lane well lit road. His reaction was, "Hmm.. cows on the road". This might be a petty matter, but I as an Indian take offence in this. I consider him as a guest to my home (Country) and if he finds something ridiculous about my home, its an offence to me. And yes, cows roaming on roads is actually ridiculous. I will quote an example here. Once, while in US, my colleagues (Americans) were discussing jokingly about how one of them saw a goat on road in Mexico and they all laughed about it. They looked at me and I helplessly had to laugh with them as if I share their joke though roaming animals on road is the most common thing in our country. So my question to you sir is, after 60 years of Congress rule, what are the steps taken so that a patriotic Indian like me can hold his head high in front of westerners ? - This month, my Income tax deduction was 12K. I have no qualms in paying my taxes as long as they are going to be used for my home. However, on the road from my office to home, I go through a slum area in between. I am pretty sure, none of the 40 K people living here pay taxes. They have not bought the land they are living in. I paid huge sum of money to buy a house. My sin : I am educated and have a job. Even my grandfather was a BPL card holder. So I could have used the same excuse. But even after living illegally and sucking money from our income, not only our tax is used for us. In fact it is used against us. The slum people have spread lot of debris on the road and dug up the road at multiple placed. In the monsoons, it is creating a mess for vehicular traffic for which in turns results in, this city burning lakhs of rupees of extra petrol. So my question to you sir is, if our tax money can not be used for us, can you at least ensure it is not getting used against us please ? Thanks & Regards Sambit Nayak
