Hey! Thats the Wax Trax Records Vinyl Store in that photo! The piece itself is another in the deluge of Vinyl Is Back stories weve been seeing for quite awhile now. What is usually missing from these articles is any mention of the place of used vinyl in the equation. Certainly, new vinyl, given its price at the retail level, generates a hefty bottom line; but, in terms of sheer volume of pieces sold, used vinyl (lps & 45s) is, I believe, higher. What is amazing is that we continue to get in so much good previously owned vinyl -- and how fast it goes back out the door with a happy customer! The quick and high turnover of used records is due to 2 reasons: 1) Our prices remain reasonable; and, 2) the spectrum of artists and titles that sell, the breadth of taste and curiosity of our customer base is not just heartening, it is breath-taking! I would, seriously, match-up our customers with those in any city for sophistication, knowledge and adventurousness: these are folks who both know music and are eager to learn more about those musics they dont know (yet)!
