Hmmm ... in the same way as the Bible seems capable of being used to justify a number of viewpoints by picking and choosing specific passages, the Westminster Confession appears to also be open to the same problems! For example, if you wish to quote the Westminster Confession that Marriage is to be between one man and one woman, then you must also accept that my marriage (as a Catholic, to my wife of 30 years - a protestant - of the United Reformed Church) is not valid in the eyes of the United Reformed Church. (It is lawful for all sorts of people to marry, who are able with judgment to give their consent. Yet it is the duty of Christians to marry only in the Lord. And therefore such as profess the true reformed religion should not marry with infidels, papists, or other idolaters) Sara is going to be devastated when I ask for all my anniversary presents back!
