Holy crap, Dog Saga. . . last night when I got home after dark Wrigley was helping me unload the car, then he waited there for me in hopes that Id take him for a ride around the block. I went in, but in a few minutes heard a definite alarm bark. Just a little bit later someone came to the door to say she was terribly sorry, but shed hit our dog with her car, he came out of nowhere, moving fast from the open land across the street. Bleeding from both ends and making ungodly choking noises, he did OK getting to the emergency vet in Santa Fe, where hes been overnight. It appears that coyotes lured him out of the yard, attacked his hindquarters, and he bolted back home right into a passing car. Now hes waiting for the oral surgeon to take a look at his poor bashed-up head, palate, jaw, etc. and is on antibiotics to fight off whatever the frickin coyote teeth did to his hind end. Poor little guy. Hug your critters!
