How would you feel if an experienced doctor, dentist, physical therapist, plumber, electrician, or personal trainer, just to name a few, has been getting by, by only using the basic knowledge to serve their clients? Do you think that professional is being the best he/she can be? Would you like to be served by them? Probably not. If we have high expectations for professionals that serve us, do we have the same high expectations for ourselves as Christians? How about us Christians? There are many of people who say they are saved, but are still on milk, basics (Hebrews 5:12-14). The Hebrew writer recognized it as a problem back then, so is it still a problem today? Many people are content with being saved by grace, belief, and faith. Whereas the bible commands us in 2 Timothy 2:15 to Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. How can we show God approval if we do not study His Word? If we do not study His Word on a regular basis and apply it in our everyday lives, are we being the best Christians we can be? My encouragement to us all is to not be satisfied with the spiritual basics and do more for God, yourself, and those that are in your environment. I know from studying it is important to go to church and do what Hebrews 10:25 says Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. We are commanded to worship God today and when we worship Him we worship Him in spirit and truth, John 4:24. I pray and encourage you to go to church and worship God this morning.
