Howdy Folks, Im not trying to make a statement here, this is something Id honestly like to understand. I see many posts on Facebook saying, essentially, that pit bulls are just misunderstood cuddle bugs. If theyre just misunderstood, why is it that at least 95% of the dog attacks I hear about on the news involve pit bulls, another such attack which is in the news in Austin now? Why is it that some municipalities are requiring pit bull owners to carry extra liability insurance? These arent dogs that were trained to fight. These are dogs that are peoples pets that one day decide to attack other dogs or people and do so very effectively. It cant simply be that dog attacks by other breeds are never reported. My only direct experience with a pit bull is with a very pregnant female that got dumped in our neighborhood years ago and that we took in for a couple of weeks. And, she was a sweetheart. Thankfully we placed shortly before she had her 11 puppies, which turned out to be half pit bull and half travelin man. And, I do know that the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is called the nanny dog in England. But, Im not sure that the blood lines and temperament of that dog have much to do with the U.S. pit bull even though the breeds are virtually identical.
