I ask you to share this post today. In 6 weeks the work of years comes to fruition. What that becomes depends on the work of all of us in these few weeks left before November 4th. I am not perfect. I am just a man. I live my life, every day, to do the right thing by God and by my family, by my neighbor and for my country. I strive to live honestly and when I make a mistake I do what I can to make it right. When I enlisted in the Marine Corps I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and defend our nation against enemies both foreign and domestic, and that is what I do and will continue to do until my days are spent. Now I ask you to join us, to set aside time and talent and treasure to give to our shared campaign. Unlike so many other campaigns this is a cause of people, of everyday Americans seeking to change our government to answer to us instead of imposing its will upon us. It is time for change. My allegiance is to God and country, not a political party or special interest. It may be old fashioned, but I still believe that the United States of America is strongest and best when we are a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, not of the powerful, by the political, and for the gain of those in power at the expense of the people. Now you citizen, must take up this cause for all of us to succeed in the fight against the status quo represented by Cleaver. Here is a conversation that has taken place thousands of times for either Donna or me: Enthusiastic supporter: Sure want you to win and beat Cleaver! Me or Donna: Great! How about a yard sign? Enthusiastic supporter: No. Me or Donna: Okay. Glad you want us to win. Would you tape a bumper strip in your back window? Enthusiastic supporter: No. I dont put stuff on my car. Me or Donna: Thats fine! How coming and making a few phone calls. Enthusiastic supporter: Not sure when I would have time so no. Me or Donna: No problem. Could you make a contribution of some amount to help reach voters? Enthusiastic supporter: No. But I sure want you to win.... In America today we have become used to rich campaigns funded by the special interests to pull all the weight. That is not our campaign. To change our government we have to change the kind of people we elect. To change the kind of people we elect you as an ordinary citizen must step up. Special interests have hundreds of elected representatives. For we the people to have one, we the people need to shoulder the load, whether with time or treasure or talent. When I consider the ills of our nation, most boil down to a lack of respect for the dignity of each person, an abandonment of Gods laws and the embracing of mans notion of right and wrong which is tainted by mans selfishness at the expense of others, and diminished regard for the family. A lifestyle of dependency rather than the American spirit of striving to be independent and take personal responsibility for ourselves, our families and our actions. Blaming others for our own decisions is not the American way, yet it has been encouraged by those placed in positions of power, by politicians, community organizers and those who put themselves forward as “leaders” but are really simply leading people to support them for their own selfish ambitions. We can begin the walk to a brighter future for all of us, our children, our grandchildren. Resolve today to find another vote or two for Turk each week. You are our media, you are our voice. Please use it each day for the next 42 days and together we will win the day! When people strive to do the right thing morally, stay faithful to their spouse and children, and operate their businesses with integrity and deal with others with honesty we all win. When we love our country and serve others over self we shine to the world as the land of the free, the home of the brave, and proudly we say “we are Americans!” I am proud of this country and of the people who have made her a great nation. Those who came here in the first place to escape the religious persecution of their homeland. Those who rebelled against the tyranny of King George of England and declared independence from him. Those who for over two centuries have fought and often died to keep our Republic free and save our independence in Europe, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and a hundred places in between. Thanks to all of them we remain one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Donna and I are proud and honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with you in this political battle to keep the Republic. Time is short. Lets roll!
