I came across this story earlier, and thought it may give some good insight to some of yall who are going through some tough relationship issues: Were getting divorced because we love each other, and we both realize that we dont have enough of what the other needs. When we decided to get divorced, I wrote a note with all the things I loved about her, and gave it to her. She got very emotional and started crying. Then three days later, she wrote me a similar note. But heres the thing--- she wrote it on the back of a recycled piece of paper. She wrote it on the back of an advertisement or something. So I called her out on it. And she said: I knew you were going to bring that up. If you cared, you wouldnt mind what it was written on. And I said: Well, if you cared, youd have gotten a fresh piece of paper. Now, I know that your initial instinct after reading this will be to think that its petty to argue over paper, but I disagree. Anyone whos ever been unhappy, even for a little while, in their marriage can tell you: no matter how loud you yell about the paper, its never about the paper. The ACTUAL point of this is that the letters highlight their differences. He needs to find someone who will write on fresh paper for him and she needs to find someone who wont notice the paper. Nothing wrong with either. Love feels different to everyone. We get so wrapped up in trying to make things work with people whos wants completely clash with our own. We cling to what we have, letting it slowly dissolve from the love that we once had into bitterness and hate for one another. We need to take a step back and analyze what we have, whats worth holding on to, and what we need to let go of in order for both parties to be happy... Sometimes a mutual split is better than holding on to something that isnt there
