I deprive my brain of oxygen for moments at a time, regularly, - TopicsExpress

I deprive my brain of oxygen for moments at a time, regularly, when out in public and am forced to inhale unavoidable cigarette smoke. My penance for adopting tolerance and adaptability is to find a proactive way to deal with the affront. My self-tagged penance for smoking in the past is to help others quit (if they truly want to). Many would say my position on smoking in public is contradictory to my pro-freedom political positions, because they don’t understand that public-smoking violates the peace/freedoms of non-smokers (breathers of natural air) with their destructive, near-pointless habit. People would argue it is part of the “rights” this country was founded on and for. Then I would ask them which Right came first: breathing original air naturally, or the choice to breathe poisonous air? This country’s “freedoms” and rights were created with the condition “as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others.” So many of us seem to have forgotten that basic tenet… Even if we care naught for our own health and freedoms and well-being, our life and liberty and happiness, we shouldn’t project that onto everyone else around us.
