I did a little investigation on the guy who said this stuff about Tyson and the cat Gavin McInnes was one of the co-founders of the online magazine VICE in 1994 with Shane Smith (the face of the organization) and Suroosh Alvi, a Canadian of Pakistani descent...Now, I dont know if the kid changed over time or if he started out in this frame of mind...I would have to do some investigation, which I might if I have some time one day...That being said, this dude McInnes has been a part of some white supremacist rhetoric... Now, I watch a lot of VICE documentaries because they are pretty good...but it begs the question of how this cat was able to exist within VICE for so long with such racist and right wing feelings when the group seems to be more on the left and fair in its representations in the media of non-anglos and Third World conditions, at least by Western standards...He eventually left in 2007 due to the infamous creative differences...Still, you have to ask at what juncture did it start to become so problematic that my man wasnt able to work there... Interesting...: Excerpt: McInnes used to write for VDARE, which the Southern Poverty Law Center identifies as a “White Nationalist” “hate group”… In one post for VDARE, McInnes compared a Canadian university to a “madrassa” because it wouldn’t host Jared Taylor, a white nationalist who advocates for founding all-white towns. McInnes currrently writes for Taki’s Magazine, a “paleoconservative” website that publishes overtly racist articles including ones by neo-confederates. At Taki’s, McInnes has referred to Asian-Americans as “slopes” and “riceballs,” suggested Muslims are “stupider” and “more violent” due to inbreeding, defended blackface because some minstrel shows were “just mimicking black people” and “fun,” backed the racist comments of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, and argued that to yell the n-word at someone is “not racist” but “just very rude.” He also owns his own website, StreetCarnage, where he defended Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s racist comments because Bundy was just “wonder[ing]” if African-Americans were better off under slavery. addictinginfo.org/2014/06/07/gavin-mcinnes-neil-degrasse-tyson/?utm_source=crowdignite&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=crowdignite
