I did a long loop today, going north in dense fog on I-77 to S.R. 490 near Raymondville, then west in more fog on 490 to I-281, then north to Falfurrias rest stop, then over to McCook on the way back to Rancho Viejo. I got the Painted Redstart, some Yellow-rumped Warblers and 10+ Easternbluebirds at the rest stop, and a young White-tailed Hawk and 20-25 Lark Sparrows near McCook. Dipped on the Mountain Plovers. I did, however, find 200+ Rock Pigeons in the same field. :-)
